West Reservoir Centre Wedding
Ade & Maja got ready together at home in East London, where I met them for a few portraits before we headed to the town hall. We were met by an array of glorious guests, decked out in colours, glitter and sequins. After the ceremony we headed to the park for smoke bombs and Prosecco, before walking to the West Reservoir Centre for a second wedding ceremony, conducted by drag queen wedding officiant Sue Gives a Fuck. The West Reservoir Centre is a stunning space for wedding photos; the height of the main space and the industrial feel would be beautiful even without further styling, but the brilliant Dita Rosted Events transformed it into something even more elegant and opulent with dazzling disco balls and floral installations from Fluoresse. Drag queen wedding ceremonies will always have my heart. As an LGBTQ+ wedding photographer it’s always wonderful to see such a big part of our culture and important part of our community represented at queer weddings. I’ve been lucky enough to capture lots of drag queen weddings in London.
Scroll through for two spectacular dresses, two ceremonies, two drag performances, two venues and two very loved up newlyweds. In their own words;
“We had a very chill morning drinking champagne and getting pampered with two of our best mates. When we put the outfits on, it was all GO GO GO! Thankfully Ade planned the schedule down to the T, with very clear instructions for everyone in the wedding party, so we could let go and just enjoy the day. Seeing everyone turn up at the venue dressed in their sparkly best brought us so much joy. The actual ceremony went by in a blur of tears and laughter. We paraded through the park with rainbow smoke bombs to the party venue where things gradually descended into fabulous queer chaos. Our MC, Sue Gives A Fuck, led everyone in a toast, which was a combination of Chinese Yam Seng and Polish vodka, and kept everyone entertained with an amazing performance. After a delish dinner prepared for us by the Disappearing Dining Club it was time for some quick drag with 3 of our friends rising up to the challenge and strutting their stuff on the catwalk, followed by DJ Lady Lloyd hitting the decks and everyone hitting the dancefloor. We ended the night with a sparkler send off, and it was just the best day ever!”
