Digital and 35mm wedding photography through a Feminist lens: my ethos and approach
Film wedding photographer: my coverage combines analogue and digital photography
In my approach, I focus on paying attention to and matching the energy of the celebrations. For the majority of the day I take natural, candid photos, aiming to capture the in-between moments. I enjoy getting to know the wedding guests and find that this helps me to blend in sensitively.
Ethical considerations matter to me, and I take care to photograph people - including importantly any children present - respectfully and with compassion.
I believe that the wedding industry upholds a very narrow view of what two people getting married looks like, and aim to challenge this through my work.
This page provides information about my approach as a digital and film wedding photographer, including my wedding photography pricing and packages which start at 2.5k for a full day.

Hi, I’m Jess - a digital and film wedding photographer
Here are five things about me…
(1) I’m based in Walthamstow with my wife Lara and son Idris. I grew up in Mid Wales and feel a strong sense of hiraeth for the mountains, forests and sea but equally love to be at raves, protests and festivals. I find a sense of calm in busy spaces.
(2) I completed a PhD in documentary studies, which explored the experiences of survivors of Domestic Abuse; this has taught me a great deal about love.
(3) I’m part of the ‘Members of the wedding industry for Palestine’ collective; ‘In an industry which is all about love and connection, silence is directly at odds with our purpose’.
(4) I work with Nikon as a Nikon Z Creator. I shoot using the Z series and, as a film wedding photographer, with the Nikon FM2 and Nikon L35LF.
(5) I’ve been a wedding photographer for almost a decade, and think it’s the most joyful job in the world.
I’d love to find out about you over a call. If you’re ready to enquire, press ‘let’s chat’, or scroll down to view more examples of my digital and 35mm film wedding photography

A little bit more about me if you’re interested:
I am currently Learning Arabic; I’m a total beginner and have almost mastered the alphabet but not all four positions // Focused on being the best parent I can be to our ten year old son // Thinking about leaving London to be in the great outdoors more easily and often // Unlearning colonial, capitalist practices and questioning always how these shape my relation to the world // Trying to find balance after finishing my PhD // Listening to the music my wife makes and feeling forever grateful that I found my best friend // Protesting most weekends // Trying to sort out my nervous system by running in the forest // Letting go
I have always Held a camera, since I was around 7 years old and needed to make sense of the world around me without words // Loved film; I saw Coffee & Cigarettes aged 13 and made it my personality for a very long time (I quit smoking in 2022) // Questioned everything // Read several books at once, currently ‘Enemy Feminisms’ for me and ‘The Mab’ with my son; a modern day retelling of The Mabinogion // Cooked for people as a way of showing them that I love them // Protested furiously against injustice // Identified as a tomboy, climbed trees, loved football and refused to conform to gendered expectations // Felt out of place everywhere unless holding a camera (then I feel I can belong everywhere and nowhere in particular but am just happy to be there)
