100 Barrington Wedding: Industrial Wedding Venue in Brixton, London

100 Barrington Road Brixton

Pheobe and Neil’s ceremony was held outside at 100 Barrington Brixton, a newly renovated space which had only very recently reopened. Built in 1879 as a furniture factory, the building has retained its original brickwork, high ceilings, exposed beams and open floor plan. Described as an oasis within the bustle of Brixton, and easily accessible from Central London, it was the perfect spot for personal vows and a group sing-a-long. The railway arches make for some really interesting angles for candid wedding photographs, and the space has been really carefully designed to allow for versatility and to make the most of the building’s character. The brickwork is beautiful as are the leafy plants and the statement chandelier. 100 Barrington is a gorgeous South London venue, and I loved being the wedding photographer for this very special day in the middle of Brixton. You can choose to get married outside in the courtyard, as Pheobe and Neil did, or inside beneath the chandelier. The venue offers a lovely indoor-outdoor experience, as guests are able to flow between spaces through the open plan bar area. This is a great choice for couples looking for a blank-canvas venue in South London, offering versatility and requiring minimal styling. 100 Barrington is a dry hire venue, so the couple brought in their own caterers. Canapes were provided by Sabel (who are excellent), and guests mingled in the outside courtyard before heading inside for toasts and a stunning three course family-style meal, again provided by Sabel. Sabel is an East London based company who are committed to sustainability, using organic and free-range produce, sustainable fish and seafood and aiming to avoid food miles. Guests enjoyed a range of perfect canapes along with champagne and cocktails from the bar.

Some helpful information about the venue:

  • Super close to Brixton Village and Coldharbour Lane, this venue is perfectly located for couples looking for a venue that feels private and relaxed in South London. It’s a short walk away from Brixton tube station, making travel easy for your wedding guests

  • How much does it cost to get married at 100 Barrington? Prices for 2025 are from 8k

  • The venue has recently undergone further refurbishment, transforming the outdoor area, which is licensed for wedding ceremonies

  • Confetti is permitted, as are pets!

Modern wedding photography at 100 Barrington

As lockdown eased in July 2021, Phoebe and Neil flew over from the Philippines to celebrate with their friends and family, many of whom they hadn’t seen in over a year. Their 10-day quarantine on the return journey was made well worth it by their loved ones, who stepped up and brought an unmatchable energy to the day. Phoebe got ready at home with her parents and bridesmaids, who all wore silk dressing gowns that Phoebe had brought home with her from her home abroad. After the hair and make up was complete we took 'first look' photos, which caused much laughter and joy. First look photographs can be a lovely aspect of the wedding morning, especially to my mind if taken in a light-hearted, relaxed way. Phoebe was one of those brides who doesn't take herself or the traditions of a wedding too seriously. We took relaxed, natural portraits of her and her bridesmaids outside, before heading over to 100 Barrington Brixton where the rest of the celebrations would be held. The bride wore a simple, elegant white dress and carried a gorgeous bouquet. The ceremony was personalised and performed by a close friend of the couple, who shared stories of the couple and invited guests to participate in a sing-along, which made the ceremony feel like a shared experience for everyone. The singer and guitarist were friends of the couple, and performed beautifully. Fortunately, the sun shone throughout the ceremony and the drinks reception that followed. Phoebe and Neil wanted to spend their day catching up with the people they love and soaking up the joy of being reunited in London. My role as the photographer was therefore to capture the natural moments between the couple and their guests, using the structure of the arches to frame the interactions. I love taking this hands-off approach, and centring the couple’s enjoyment of the day over staged photo opportunities. We had fun taking unserious group photos in between speeches at the wedding breakfast. There were so many wonderful characters present at their wedding presenting such great opportunities for candid, documentary style wedding photos. The party was kicked off with Phoebe performing a rendition of ‘Flying without wings’, in a pair of glorious silver wings. Neil’s face was a picture. The dancefloor at 100 Barrington features a stunning disco-ball and I loved how easily the space shifted from hosting a family-style meal to hosting a packed out dancefloor.
